Consultant

Casey Recupero is a social impact executive, coach and advisor, with deep experience scaling teams and culture at the intersection of mission and market.

Casey has spent most of the past 20 years building Year Up – the nation’s highest-performing youth workforce training organization – from 100 students/year to 5,000. Over the years, Casey’s leadership touched nearly every facet of the organization, including fundraising, sales and account management, new product development, and P&L leadership for the day-to-day delivery of Year Up’s award-winning program.

More recently, Casey has launched an advisory practice to magnify impact through a network of mission-aligned organizations, taking on assignments aimed at empowering frontline leadership, boosting equity and inclusion, fostering cross-functional collaboration and “seeing around corners” when translating strategy into execution. One recent assignment included mobilizing government, workforce development, innovation ecosystem, and research university leaders to compete for the Economic Development Administration’s $10B Regional Technology Hub initiative, the largest place-based economic development program ever undertaken by the federal government.

Before joining Year Up in 2004, Casey served as a Program Officer at World Education, where he partnered with African nonprofit organizations on a variety of initiatives, including HIV/AIDS peer education for Ghanaian youth, development of the South African small business sector, and grassroots education reform in Malawi.

Casey has a B.A in Anthropology and African Studies from Harvard College, is a graduate of the LeadBoston program, and has served on the Selection Advisory Council for the GreenLight Fund, the Lewis Family Foundation’s Community Advisory Group, and the Success Boston Task Force.
